Exciting Updates to Our Library Management System: Introducing FOLIO

We are delighted to announce that our library has transitioned to a new Library Services Platform (LSP) called FOLIO! This system marks a significant upgrade, offering a range of new features to enhance your experience, whether you're a student, researcher, or member of staff.

One of the key benefits of FOLIO is its unified interface, making it easier for you to discover resources, manage your account, and access services all in one place. Additionally, we’ve integrated our institutional repository collections directly into FOLIO, meaning that staff and student research outputs are now seamlessly accessible alongside other library resources. Whether you’re searching for books, journals, or institutional research, FOLIO simplifies the process.

This transition has been nearly a year in the making, thanks to the dedication of our library staff, who have worked hard to ensure a smooth implementation. However, as with any major system update, we are still refining the platform and incorporating it fully into our library website. We are also actively seeking feedback from users like you to help us improve the system. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, we encourage you to share them with us (library.desk@mie.ie).

We’re excited about the potential FOLIO offers and believe it will significantly improve your library experience. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition!

Orientation for new students

Orientation is now over, and we really enjoyed welcoming all of our new students to MIE Library 🤓If you missed out on an orientation handbook, we have them at the desk alongside our bookmarks. Fáilte 🦉

Open Access Week

October 21-27 2024 is Open Access week.

This year’s theme continues the call to put “Community over Commercialization” and prioritise approaches to open scholarship that serve the best interests of the public and the academic community.

Part of the work that MIE Library does is supporting students and staff to upload their work to our repository TARA which we share with Trinity College Dublin.

The library is planning to collaborate on a webinar event during this week (TBA) to discuss contemporary issues in Open Access Scholarship.
