Clinic Leabhar/Book Clinic
On 28th September, the first staff Clinic Leabhar/Book Clinic was held in Seomra na Gaeilge. This was an opportunity for staff to have a look at the wonderful books available in Irish lining the shelves, and to sit down and read a good book for a few minutes. Facilitated by two Book Doctors, Claire Dunne and Robbie Irwin spoke to lecturers about Irish books that can be used across the primary curriculum and in lectures with our students. The budding Irish readers left armed with a prescription for good books and ideas for their lectures.
You can have a look at contemporary books in Irish that are suitable for different age groups, and how you can use them in the classroom in the following resource:
If you are looking for themed books and ideas for the classroom, you can have a look at the reading guides by Children’s Books Ireland.
This Book Clinic was for staff but later in the year (nearer to placement) keep an eye out as they plan to host one for students.
