New look library catalogue

Our library catalogue has gotten a makeover! Thanks to our Systems Librarian, Anne, the catalogue homepage has been updated for a more accessible and user-friendly experience. This new look allows for smoother navigation and makes it easier to find what you need with less fuss.

Try our New LibChat box on Library Homepage: We have integrated a new trial “Chat With Us” box on the library homepage to help students and staff navigate the site more easily. The chatbox is manned during service hours by the library team, who will be happy to help with any queries. Our trial is up until the 16th of June, make sure to make the most out of it!

The Arts and Culture in Education Research Repository (ACERR): Have you seen MIE’s Arts in Education research collection on ACERR? This is a collection dedicated to showcasing the work produced by the Arts in Education faculty and students at MIE. Click here to browse previous creative projects by the Arts department as well as research reports and papers. We look forward to facilitating further submissions to this collection. If you have recent Visual Arts, Drama, Music or other Arts projects you’d like to submit for open access, please contact us.

The purpose of ACERR is to provide international open access to Arts research produced by educational and cultural institutions across Ireland. ACERR is hosted by the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI).

New Curriculum Room Project:

We are currently in the planning stages of our redesign project for the Curriculum Room upstairs in the library. Members of the library team have visited various other libraries for inspiration as we explore possibilities for the new room. We gathered ideas from colleagues in IADT Library and the LexIcon in Dún Laoghaire on making the most of our space with student wellbeing and comfort in mind. We also visited the ChildVision Education Centre Library to learn more about accessibility and alternative formats in library spaces and collections. The team had an opportunity to view the collections and to learn about the everyday running of the library.

Book Donation:
We donated books from our collection to St. Patrick’s National School, Stamullen, who are working on building their first ever school library. We hope these books will find new eager readers in the school. The rest of the books are now free of charge in the library lobby for students and staff to browse and take home.

New Library Intern – June
Our new library intern, Gwen, from UCD will be joining us for several weeks in June and July. She will be working with us to gain experience before beginning her MLIS degree in September 2023. Gwen will be helping us with our collection assessment projects and we look forward to having her on board.
